PI Design
When the Predictive Index was preparing for their Talent Optimization launch, the business identified a need for a new set of tools aimed at executive teams. These tools would allow executive teams at leading companies to be able to ensure they are aligned on company strategy. The tool would ask questions of the team and overlay information about their team over their priorities for the future. The business tasked the science department to develop a team strategy assessment to be combined with the PI Behavioral Assessment so that teams can know themselves, their team and their strategy.
I, and my team, were tasked with creating the user flows and designs for this new tool. While the Science team developed, tested and iterated on the assessment, I began research into what executive teams needed to be able to accomplish the mission of the tool. We reached into our existing client base and our own executive team to be able to understand the needs and establish Jobs to be Done.
Once we had a solid footing of research I began mockup designs so we could move quickly and produce designs that could be tested and iterated upon. While the process moved quickly to align with the launch dates we aimed to meet, I made many iterations which were relentlessly tested with executive teams. The design of the tool had to be super easy to use and take up very little time to complete and understand so that it could easily fit into the workflows of executive teams that are very busy and focused on business goals.
The shining jewel of this tool is what is presented at the end of the assessment and alignment process. Lovingly nicknamed the 'PI Pizza' as we developed it, this chart had a lot of work to do. It had to overlay individual behavioral information with strategic choices and their categories. Once the general design was figured out I tasked the team of contractors I oversaw to develop the rough sketches and mockups into polished hifi designs that would ultimately be shown to executive teams.
Furthermore, the whole tool needed to be easily actionable for a variety of circumstances based on how aligned the team was to their strategy so a lot of work was put into recommending the right path forward and providing supporting materials to ensure the whole picture is understood and teams can move forward with confidence.
Very Early Mockup
Here is one of the first mockups I created for the Design tool user flow. There is context that a user would have when starting this process that this portfolio cannot provide, but you can view the mockup to compare to how it evolved into later mockups.
Later Mockup
Here is one of the last mockups created for the Design tool user flow. You can see some of the core functionality remains from earlier versions, while specific information and functionality evolved.
